Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of MileVault, provided by Wael Makhoul. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Licence
You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use MileVault on devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
Apple's role
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for MileVault or its content. Your use of the app is also covered by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and for any support, maintenance, or claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Subscriptions and purchases
MileVault Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed yearly, and MileVault Pro Lifetime is a single one-time purchase that does not renew. The price of each, in your local currency, is shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time after purchase; cancelling stops future renewals and the current paid period runs to its end. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We cannot issue refunds directly.
Not tax advice
MileVault is a record-keeping tool. It is not an accountant, a tax adviser, or a tax filing service, and nothing it shows is professional advice. The deduction figures it produces are arithmetic applied to the mileage rate and the miles you recorded.
You are responsible for what you claim. Tax rules on which journeys are deductible, what records are required, and how long they must be kept differ by where you live and change over time. Check your own position with a qualified professional before relying on any figure.
Mileage rates are yours to confirm
MileVault ships with the official mileage rates known when that version was released, and app updates carry new ones. It has no server, so it never fetches a rate on its own — which also means a rate can become out of date if you do not update the app.
MileVault marks any figure calculated with a rate it believes may be out of date, and you can enter a rate yourself at any time. Confirming that the rate applied to a period is the correct one is your responsibility, not ours.
What the tamper-evident log does and does not do
MileVault links your records together so that a later edit to an earlier drive can be detected, and it keeps a history of edits. This is designed to help you show your log has not been quietly rewritten.
It is not certification. It does not prove a drive happened, does not make a record legally admissible anywhere, and carries no guarantee that any tax authority, employer, or client will accept it. It records what was entered and when it changed — nothing more.
Measurement is an estimate
Distances come from your iPhone's location hardware, which is affected by buildings, tunnels, weather, and battery-saving behaviour on the device. A recorded distance is a good measurement, not a certified one, and MileVault gives you odometer entry and manual editing precisely so you can correct it.
A drive that was never started — because you did not tap Start and your car was not connected — is not recorded at all. Reviewing your log is part of using it.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for how you use MileVault and for decisions you make based on it.
No warranty
MileVault is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wael Makhoul is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of MileVault.
Changes
These terms may be updated. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
