Cutover is a video recording and editing app for iPhone, provided by Wael Makhoul. This policy explains exactly what leaves your device and what does not.

Your recordings never leave your device

Everything you film stays on your iPhone. Your videos, photos, audio, transcripts, edits, and exports are stored locally and are never uploaded to us. We cannot see them, and we have no server that receives them.

Capture, background cutout, colour looks, and automatic captions all run on the device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Speech recognition for captions is performed on-device; audio is not sent to a transcription service.

What we do collect

Cutover requires an account. When you sign in with an email address and password, or with Google, our authentication provider stores:

• your email address;
• an account identifier (a random user ID);
• your display name, if your Google account provides one.

That is used solely to sign you in and keep you signed in. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across other apps or websites. Cutover contains no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK, and sets no tracking identifier.

Service providers

Google Firebase Authentication handles sign-in and stores the account information listed above. Google Sign-In is used if you choose that option. See Google's privacy policy for how they process that data.

Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Cutover uses RevenueCat to record whether your purchase is active. It receives the product purchased, its status, and an anonymous, randomly generated identifier — not your name and not your payment information. Permissions the app asks for

The app asks for these only when you use the feature that needs them.

• Camera and microphone — to record. Used only while you are filming.
• Photo library (add only) — to save finished exports to your Photos library. Choosing a video to react to goes through the system picker, which hands the app only the file you picked and gives it no access to the rest of your library.
• Speech recognition — for on-device live captions.
• Local network — only if you choose to download an export to a computer over Wi-Fi. The file is served directly from your iPhone to your own computer on your own network. It does not pass through us.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes the account record described above. Recordings on your device are not affected — they were never ours to delete. A purchase belongs to your Apple Account and is not cancelled by deleting your Cutover account.

Children

Cutover is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new date.
